Bridal brunch brava!

Wedding Chic, Gump’s recent show­case for brides, was a grand suc­cess. Elixir designed the col­lat­eral for the February 8 event, including a custom logo­type used in print ads and the e-nnouncement. Consultants from Gump’s wed­ding reg­istry and spe­cialty pur­veyors were on-hand to tour brides-to-be through the dis­plays. Elixir has designed and evolved the Gump’s cat­a­logue since 2005, evoking in print the dis­tinc­tive in-store shop­ping experience.

Wine and con­ver­sa­tion sparkled as guests cir­cu­lated throughout the store.

Here comes the… bridal event

Gump’s recently invited Elixir to design col­lat­eral for Wedding Chic: a custom logo­type, plus print ads and an e-nnouncement with a pho­to­graph from fre­quent Elixir col­lab­o­rator John Dolan. The bridal brunch on February 8 will present the ulti­mate in ele­gant, rel­e­vant home­wares, sup­ple­mented by dis­plays and demos from spe­cialty pur­veyors. The Wedding Registry at Gump’s has enchanted and inspired gen­er­a­tions of Bay Area brides. Elixir has designed and evolved the Gump’s cat­a­logue since 2005, evoking in print the dis­tinc­tive in-store shop­ping experience.

A Toast to 2009

Just a quick note to wish you the best as the year (our 16th in busi­ness!) draws to a close. Our thanks to everyone who in 2008: pro­vided the ref­er­ence, signed the check, took the photo, styled the shot, found the loca­tion, edited the copy, drew the pic­ture, illus­trated the con­cept, wrote the code, vis­ited the studio, deter­mined the posi­tioning, sug­gested the paper, printed the brochure, proofed the color, drank the mar­garita, AND fed the inspiration.

The year included new projects with old friends at Sundance, Gump’s, Naturopathica, New Leaf Paper, The Golden Bear, Hlaska, TravelSmith, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. And we met new friends through projects with the California Academy of Sciences, Golden Star Tea Company, Stand & Deliver, the Contemporary Jewish Museum, New York Life, and Sandia National Laboratories. Our col­lab­o­ra­tions with our clients, col­leagues, and friends mean the world to us.

Trip the Light Fantastic

Made in the Shade, Gump’s first-ever ben­efit, was a runway suc­cess. The fashion show and dis­play of one-of-a-kind lamp­shades delighted the crowd, who were gen­erous with their applause and their bid­ding pad­dles. The illu­mi­nati who cre­ated the shades turned up their brain-bulbs to create witty, wacky, and wow-able art. The gumparazzi wore all black. His Elegance, emcee Willie Brown, Jr., sported a crisp pocket square. The evening sup­ports a newly endowed schol­ar­ship to the California College of the Arts. What a bright idea! Continue reading

Stage of Enlightenment

Elixir was delighted to design the save-the-date and invi­ta­tion for Made in the Shade, Gump’s first-ever ben­efit for the arts. The event will sup­port a newly endowed schol­ar­ship to the California College of the Arts. An array of artists, designers, and celebs have cre­ated one-of-a-kind lamp­shades that models will sport on the cat­walk. Fashionable former mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr. will emcee.

The save-the-date was an op arti­fact, a translu­cent black sleeve with lamp­shade sil­hou­ette, whose pat­tern changed as the “light” came on and the infor­ma­tion card came out. Note for non-locals: The name Made in the Shade is a triple entendre, because Gump’s southern façade is on Maiden Lane.
