Good Samaritan

“[Here's something] to warm the cockles of your damp, dreary, fungus-ridden February hearts: City College journalism student (and Elixir’s Project Manager) Laurel Moorhead was on Valencia Street, heading home after class recently, when she saw a woman fall off her bicycle. When she ran over to help, she found the woman’s foot twisted around, bone bulging.

Moorhead called 911 and sat in the gutter with the victim, waiting for paramedics, who took the biker away. But in the process, they also carried off Moorhead’s sweater. Late in the night, the victim called, “high on morphine, after getting my cell phone number from the 911 dispatcher, to tell me she [had] my sweater and would like to get it to me when she is out of the hospital.” Read the rest of Leah Garchik’s article from the San Francisco Chronicle.
